About Shelly

I’m Shelly Walston, and I enjoy life as a voracious reader, writer, and collector of commemorative state plates. My love of reading (and office supplies) led me to a career as an educator, and I’ve been teaching English at the high-school level for over two decades.

My wife Mallory and I enjoy trying new recipes almost as much as we like playing Mah Jongg, Dominion, or cribbage. Mal’s also an accomplished roller skater, and when the weather’s nice, I’ll join her at the park where she skates while I read. Our pets Django, Mathilde, and Roberta Bernadette occasionally get jealous of our adventurous lives, but we give them plenty of cuddles.

Our home oozes vintage charm, and music bounces off the walls, playing from one of our three record players spaced throughout; my favorite artists include Prince, David Bowie, Janelle Monae, and Orchestral Maneuvers in the Dark.

When I’m not grading papers, working on my novel, walking the dogs, or playing strategy games, you’ll find me sprawled on my couch, reading a book.
