Coming out of a deep freeze with temps as low as -17F (without the wind-chill factor), the warm fuzzies I felt from reading The Ex Talk by Rachel Lynn Solomn fueled my days – even though I was remiss to leave the cozy cocoon her pages and my sheets had wrapped around me.
Solomon captures the NPR-ness that “sophisticated” romance readers like me love. For the love of Inskeep, Nina, and Ari, I found myself seated in the sound booth with Shay and Dominic at Pacific Public Radio, 88.3 FM, a Seattle-based NPR affiliate. Shay is a lifer at PPR; she’s been producing Puget Sounds for nearly a decade; Dominic is a hot-shot grad school newbie who wants to make the world a better place with fact-finding and gritty news reels. The two don’t immediately hit it off, but a novel podcast radio hour concept finds them thrown together in Booth C. And what a steamy place Booth C turns out to be.
Like its eponymous radio show, The Ex Talk tackles the woes and triumphs of love with a relentless force, and nothing is off limits for Solomon.
If you love the movie The Truth about Cats and Dogs and shows like News Radio, you’ll fit right in with the quick, witty banter of Solomon’s debut romance.
