Tarot Deck: On its way

Tarot
Tarot Deck by Robin Wood

I finally pulled the trigger and bought my first tarot deck. Yep. It’s really happening. I already have my crystals – blue calcite, black tourmaline, and selenite; plus, I’ve got sage for when things need cleansing. It was just a matter of time before I found the perfect deck.

At the suggestion of my pal Mark, I got a deck of cards illustrated by Robin Wood. The images have a touch of Art Nouveau, and they come with a brief booklet for description and clarification. They’re classic, no frills, just lovely. I’m thrilled, honestly because a tarot deck is something I’ve wanted for a while now. At first I thought the cards should be whimsical, maybe with unicorns, fairies, and other spirited characters. Then, I thought maybe I wanted someone to gift me cards (I’m still open to this – wink, wink, nudge, nudge). But ultimately, I just needed a direction: for someone I know and care about to point me to something classic, something reliable, something readable.

Can’t wait to open my new deck – just in time for the new month.

For those of you who are interested, I’ve also been cataloging a few things for witchery. Here’s a book I read this month: Inner Witch: A Modern Guide to the Ancient Craft. It’s an easy read, and it’s full of explanations that – even though I think I knew deep down – were straight-forward yet offered some room for wonder. Author Gabriela Herstik is a well-known figure, and her writing is definitely readable. I’ve also been listening to the Witch Wave podcast recently. Feel free to disregard the first episode – it feels a little commercial, but it’s also meant to build a base so I get it. Podcaster Pam Grossman is a known figure in the world of witches, and she features women and men of all walks on her podcast.
