I’ve been thinking a lot lately about what makes me tick, how those things influence my priorities, and whether my interests coincide with how I spend my time. Productivity, and tracking progress, gives me a sense of accomplishment: I love feeling like I’ve accomplished something.
In the last eight weeks – approximately 56 days – I’ve graded 140 essays. That represents a good chunk of my time; honestly, it takes me nearly four hours each time I score a batch of 28 AP Literature essays.
This milestone of 140 essays in 56 days feels like an accomplishment. Like, a big one.
And then I remember that we have another eight weeks left for seniors. And then I think about the next 140+ essays I’ll score. And that makes me feel overwhelmed.
But for now, I’ve got the accomplishment under my belt. And I’ll revel in that for the next 24 hours at least.
